The promotional campaign for this Hellboy reboot should kick off soon.
A Hellboy advertising banner hypes fans for the rise of Milla Jovovich's Blood Queen in this reboot movie. The graphic novel, written by Mike Mignola, found its cinematic life in Guillermo del Toro's two adaptations in 2004 and 2008. However, after efforts to continue the franchise, del Toro couldn't make the third movie and had to abandon the project.
Mignola himself picked up the job to make a reboot, not a sequel, with Neil Marshall (The Descent) as the director and David Harbour (Stranger Things) as the titular demon warrior. Adopting the comic book's dark and macabre tone, the new Hellboy is getting an R-rating. Casting until now comprises Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Professor Broom, Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimio, and Jovovich as the villain, Nimue the Blood Queen.
The actress posted a new picture on Instagram, hailing the rise of her Blood Queen. It's a shot of a banner in L.A., which features the images, from Mignola's graphic novels, of Hellboy and the Blood Queen.
Nimue the Blood Queen is a mighty witch who lived during the time of King Arthur and learned magic under the powerful Merlin. When she was tempted by serving the Ogdru Jahad, Nimue was sentenced to death by her allies. She got the name "Blood Queen" when Grugach, one of Hellboy's villains, resurrected her using blood of innocent villagers. Partly shot in Wells Cathedral of England, the movie will surely showcase this Arthurian legend aspect of the comics as Marshall and Mignola promised a more faithful adaptation.
