The Rampage star jokes in goodwill about preceding Avengers: Infinity War at the box office.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson took to Instagram to announce the change of Rampage's release date, as well as a quip regarding the superheroes of Infinity War.
Adapted by director Brad Peyton from the game of the same name, this The Rock-led movie hopes to negate the assumed curse of video-game movies. After MCU's tentpole moved its release date from May 4 to April 27, Warner Bros. avoided this heavy competition by also changing its premiere from April 20 to April 13. Now, Rampage will have two weeks at the box office before Thanos barges in to confront the Avengers.
The Rock acknowledged the cause of Infinity War moving up in a hilarious joke that ends with a wink emoji: "Of course it had nothing to do with Tony Stark and his Avenger gang moving their release date up a week..." He then called Iron Man and his allies for a little fun, that is if the Avengers were still in good shape.
Alert 🚨: THE RAMPAGE is officially unleashed around world APRIL 13th. Of course it had nothing to do with Tony Stark and his Avenger gang moving their release date up a week 😉 These movie release dates are always a chess game, and in the end I want EVERYONE playing to win. And now that we’ve moved to April 13th, it pretty much guarantees that I’ll be home for the birth of my baby daughter - so thank you Mr. Stark. We all win. And if you Avengers ever wanna have a lil’ fun and Rumble... you know where to find me. APRIL 13th - THE RAMPAGE BEGINS WORLDWIDE. 🐊🦍🐺
The Rock has always been active on social media about his projects, from Baywatch to the much-entertaining Welcome to the Jungle. He recently congratulated Black Panther on its resounding success. In this particular post, his friendliness and generosity are apparent, giving the opening period of this summer's blockbusters a cheerful atmosphere.
