Daniel Bruhl Says Cloverfield 3 Has A 'Near Future Scenario'

Cloverfield 3 actor Daniel Bruhl reveals a plot detail about this cryptic Bad Robot project.

According to Collider, we have one more tidbit for the project from actor Daniel Bruhl, who plays one of the lead role.

"It’s based on many interesting ideas about a near future scenario, which is an interesting vision of what could happen or what might happen with the Earth. I’m bit scared to talk about it because it’s so extremely secretive. I’m afraid of ending up in a Bad Robot prison."

From J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot, Cloverfield 3 has been secretive in its marketing, including an enigmatic website.

One piece of information decoded from the website:

Tokyo — January 18 2018: Tagruato has begun development on a revolutionary new energy technology in what CEO Garo Yoshida called a technological great leap forward for our planet. This renewable technology will take at least 4 years to complete along with another six years International regulatory bodies to bring the powerful revolutionary energy source by April 18 2028.

and the provocative synopsis:

A team of astronauts aboard an international space station find themselves alone after a scientific experiment involving a particle accelerator makes the Earth vanish. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must fight for survival following their horrible discovery.

This continues the established practice of Abrams' mystery box after its spiritual predecessors of the same line--the found-footage monster flick Cloverfield and the psychological thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Known as God Particle during its production, Cloverfield 3 could be actually named Cloverfield Station if predictions based on a LinkedIn profile were valid. The information is still unconfirmed, but Bruhl's revelation adds certain credibility to the theory.

Bruhl also compliments Abrams:

"J.J. Abrams is such a mastermind in that genre. It was very attractive to work with all of these wonderful actors. I’ve always wanted to do a space movie, so I couldn’t wait to end up floating in space and solving huge problems."
